Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a phone meeting with his advisors on Monday to discuss the ongoing conflict with Hamas in the region. The official statement from the Israel Prime Minister’s Office mentioned that Netanyahu assessed the situation through a teleconference in the evening.
During the call, participants included Defense Minister Gantz, Minister Eisenkot, Strategic Affairs Minister Aryeh Deri, National Security Council Director, Chief of Staff for the Prime Minister, IDF Chief-of-Staff, Mossad Director, Military Secretary for the Prime Minister, Head of National Public Diplomacy Directorate, Head of IDF Operations Directorate, Head of IDF Planning Directorate, Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories, and Head of Research at IDF Intelligence.
Additionally, the Israel Defense Forces shared a video of an airstrike in the Gaza Strip today. This airstrike targeted and killed the commander of Hamas’s Shati battalion, as reported by The Times of Israel.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) state that Haitham Hawajri played a significant role in sending Hamas terrorists into Israel during the October 7 incident. Additionally, he led the fighting against troops in Gaza City’s Shati camp during a ground offensive. According to the IDF, Hawajri and his battalion were tasked with securing Gaza City’s Shifa Hospital, where the terrorist group is believed to have a base of operations underneath.
In his role, Hawajri was in charge of carrying out various terrorist activities against the people of Israel, as stated by the IDF, according to a report by The Times of Israel. Meanwhile, as reported by CNN, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have initiated the expansion of their ground operations to cover the entire Gaza Strip on Sunday.
The IDF, as mentioned by spokesperson Daniel Hagari in a news conference on Sunday, is restarting and expanding its ground operation against the strongholds of Hamas throughout the entire Gaza Strip. The spokesperson emphasized the crucial support from the Air Force, stating that airstrikes targeting terrorist headquarters, weapons facilities, tunnels, and rocket launch sites play a vital role in reducing threats against the ongoing ground operation.
