Following the end of a truce between Israel and Hamas, Israel’s Defense Force (IDF) spokesperson, Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, stated that they will use full force against Hamas terrorists. They pursued Hamas in both northern and southern Gaza, aiming to minimize harm to civilians used as shields by Hamas.
During the seven-day pause before the resumption of hostilities, the IDF used the time to enhance readiness, review intelligence, and refine operational procedures.
Rear Admiral Hagari emphasized that the truce ended on December 1, and Hamas chose war by violating the hostage release agreement. He highlighted the terror group’s refusal to release hostages, including women, children, and babies. The IDF spokesperson asserted that Hamas has been holding 137 people hostage in inhumane conditions since October 7.
Hagari called on international organizations in Gaza to assist Israel in efforts to release hostages and urged them to ensure Red Cross access to the hostages. The IDF sees international collaboration as crucial to saving lives and addressing the urgent mission to rescue the hostages.
In response to the situation, Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened a meeting with top officials, including the IDF chief of staff, National Security Council chief, Mossad head, and Shin Bet chief.
The meeting, held at the Defense Ministry headquarters in Tel Aviv, involved discussions on the ongoing developments and strategic considerations.
