Ambedkar on his 67th death anniversary, known as “Mahaparinirvan Diwas.” Various leaders, including Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, paid tribute to the architect of the Indian Constitution at his statue in the Parliament premises.
A former Prime Minister, on social media, expressed deep respect for Dr. Ambedkar, acknowledging him as the architect of the Indian Constitution and a tireless advocate for social harmony. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla emphasized Ambedkar’s dedication to building an equal and just society, progressing the nation, and advocating for human rights and social justice.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh highlighted Babasaheb Ambedkar’s remarkable contributions to the nation on Mahaparinirvan Diwas, recognizing his role in inspiring millions and shaping India’s Constitution. Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, remembered Ambedkar as the chief architect of the Constitution and praised his efforts for creating an equitable and strong India.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge paid homage to Babasaheb Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, emphasizing his lifelong commitment to democratic principles and social justice. Kharge stressed the need to preserve Ambedkar’s finest contribution to the nation—the Constitution of India.
Born on April 14, 1891, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar was an Indian jurist, economist, politician, and social reformer. He campaigned against social discrimination towards Dalits and championed the rights of women and workers. Ambedkar’s significant contributions included leading a satyagraha in Mahad for the untouchable community’s right to draw water and being part of the committee that drafted the Indian Constitution after independence.
On September 25, 1932, the Poona Pact was signed between Ambedkar and Madan Mohan Malaviya, ensuring increased legislative seats for the depressed class. In 1990, he was posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honor. Baba Saheb Ambedkar passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 6, 1956, at his home in Delhi.
