The Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity or COCOMI have decided to discontinue the social boycott placed on the Manipur Government starting Thursday.
COCOMI mentioned the committee had unanimously concluded on the resolution after assessing the developments of the ongoing conflict.
It may be noted that COCOMI imposed the social boycott of the State Government on August 6.
COCOMI convenor Jeetendra Ningomba stated the move to withdraw the boycott came after thorough deliberation of resolutions taken in several conventions.
“The resolution to lift the boycott was taken in several meetings held in various locations. Renowned intellect and social thinkers of the State who took part in these meetings all voiced their affirmation to lift COCOMI’s boycott of the State Government,” said the convenor.
He further highlighted that the State Government had invited COCOMI for a meeting to discuss key issues in connection with the crisis.
“The government had extended the invitation to discuss the developments in the National Register of Citizens-NRC, resettlement of displaced and affected persons and the ongoing conflict in the State,” said Ningomba.
He maintained that the committee had decided to lift the boycott in light of the people’s opinion and the development of the crisis.
Ningomba further appealed to all the people of Manipur to remain steadfast and extend their coordination in resolving the crisis.
