Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a meeting with the Sultan of Oman, Haitham bin Tarik, in New Delhi. They talked about how Bharat and Oman can work together in the future. The Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson, Arindam Bagchi, mentioned that it’s a boost for the Bharat-Oman partnership.
PM Modi warmly welcomed Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to the Hyderabad House. Earlier, the Sultan received a ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhavan. PM Modi and President Droupadi Murmu greeted him, and there was a Guard of Honour by the defense services.
The Sultan’s visit to Bharat is for three days. He arrived at the Delhi airport and was received by Union Minister of State for External Affairs, V Muraleedharan. The visit is seen as an opportunity to strengthen the friendship and cooperation between the two nations.
Bharat and Oman have a long history of friendship, dating back 5,000 years. Diplomatic relations were established in 1955 and upgraded to a strategic partnership in 2008. Oman is a crucial defense partner in the Gulf region for Bharat, and their defense cooperation is a significant aspect of their strategic partnership.
Bharat invited Oman to participate in the G20 Summit. Oman actively took part in various G20 meetings. In terms of defense, Oman is the only country in West Asia where all three branches of the Indian Armed Forces engage in regular exercises and staff talks.
