Delhi Police special cell teams are on a mission across six states—Rajasthan, Haryana, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, and Maharashtra—to investigate the Parliament security breach on December 13. To dig deeper, 50 separate teams are delving into the digital and bank details as well as the backgrounds of the accused. The special cell teams are escorting the accused to safe houses in these states for investigation.
Sagar Sharma, one of the accused, is under scrutiny by the special cell team in Saket, Southern Range. The alleged mastermind, Lalit Jha, has been handed over to the Janakpuri team in South Western Range. Notably, burnt mobile phones of the accused were recovered by the Janakpuri team from Rajasthan’s Nagaur. Another accused, Manoranjan D, is now in the hands of the special cell of New Delhi Range (NDR), Lodhi Road. Neelam Devi’s case is being handled by the special cell team in Delhi’s New Friends Colony.
All the accused have been distributed among different units of the special cell as of Saturday. After the initial investigation by the special cell, the accused are expected to be handed over to the NFC special cell team for further probing.
On December 13, during the Winter Session in the Lok Sabha, chaos erupted when Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan D jumped into the House chamber, releasing yellow smoke and shouting slogans. Simultaneously, Amol Shinde and Neelam Devi, outside the Parliament premises, released colored smoke with anti-dictatorship slogans. Lalit Jha, the alleged mastermind, shared protest videos on social media. All accused were subsequently taken into police custody, including Mahesh Kumawat, the sixth accused arrested by Delhi Police.
