In one of the biggest revelations yet, the Israeli army on Sunday stated that it uncovered an unusually large, concrete, and iron-girded Hamas tunnel in the Gaza Strip, which is believed to be 4 km long. According to news sources, the size of the Hamas tunnel was such that small vehicles could easily travel through it.
As per a statement released by the Israeli army, the tunnel is believed to have cost the Hamas terrorists millions of dollars for its year-long construction. The tunnel project is believed to be helmed by Mohamed Yahya, brother of Hamas Chief, Yahya Sinwar, who was the mastermind of Hamas’ attack on Israel on October 7.
The Chief Military spokesperson, Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari stated that he, along with the entire military, will enter the biggest secret tunnel created by Sinwar. He added that it was meant to target Eroz Crossing, which is the sole crossing point for individuals between the Gaza Strip and Israel by land.
Military Chief Hagari put the full length of the tunnel to be 4 km, which he said was enough to reach the northern Gaza city, once a heart of Hamas governance and now a devastated combat zone. He noted that this tunnel ends at 400 metres from the Erez Crossing, which is used by thousands of Palestinians to work inside Israel. Showing the tunnel, Hagari said that it had poles descending vertically downward which indicated that it was a part of a wider network.
Meanwhile, the Israeli forces also said that they had uncovered tunnels under vacation homes in Gaza that were being used by the senior Hamas leaders. Shockingly, this was being used along with another shaft that was located under a baby’s crib in the northern Strip.
The Israeli military made these comments after raiding the offices of the commander of Hamas’ Khan Younis battalion and the vacation homes of several senior Hamas commanders, including the Palestinian terror group’s leader, Yahya Sinwar.
The Israel military began the counter offensive against Hamas terrorists after its brutal attack on the innocent Israelis where several were killed, while many were taken hostages. Since the beginning of the Israel-Hamas conflict, Israel Defence Forces vowed on destabilising Hamas’ large network of tunnels that were massively used when it attacked Israel.
