A 27-year-old woman named Inbar Haiman from Israel was at a music festival called Supernova. She was taken hostage by Hamas during an attack on southern Israel on October 7. Inbar was a student from Haifa, volunteering at the festival. When the attack happened, she hid under a stage and later under a bush. Witnesses reported that she was found by two armed Hamas fighters, taken out, and put on a motorbike. A video later emerged showing her beaten and surrounded by four men.
The news of Inbar’s death was confirmed by the Hostages and Missing Persons Families Forum. Her family was informed by authorities, but details about how or when she was killed are not known. It is believed that Hamas still holds her body in Gaza. Inbar is survived by her parents and a brother.
The Supernova desert rave turned into a tragedy with at least 360 partygoers killed by Hamas fighters, according to Israeli officials. Inbar was one of dozens of hostages taken by the group. Some hostages were released during a truce, but many are still believed to be in captivity.
The situation has put pressure on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government to secure the release of hostages. Families are advocating for their loved ones, especially after the Israeli Defense Forces admitted to mistakenly killing three hostages in Gaza. The conflict has led to over 18,700 deaths in Gaza since Israel’s retaliatory attacks.
