The External Affairs Minister of Bharat, S Jaishankar, had a meeting with the Foreign Minister of Benin, Olushegun Adjadi Bakari, in New Delhi. They greeted each other with handshakes and even took a photo together. The meeting aimed to strengthen the friendship between the two countries.
Benin’s Foreign Minister arrived in New Delhi on Sunday for an official visit, and the Union Minister of State, V Muraleedharan, was also present with EAM Jaishankar. The visit was expected to enhance the relationship between Bharat and Benin.
The Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson, Arindam Bagchi, gave a warm welcome to Benin’s Foreign Minister on social media, expressing that the visit would contribute to strengthening the ties between Bharat and Benin.
It’s worth noting that Benin is a member of various international organizations, including the United Nations, and has a close working relationship with Bharat. This partnership was reinforced during a previous visit by Benin’s former President Boni Yayi in March 2009 when Benin supported Bharat’s bid for a permanent seat in an expanded UN Security Council.
Additionally, Benin has shown solidarity with Bharat in addressing the global challenge of terrorism, considering it a significant threat to international peace and security. The Ministry of External Affairs highlighted Benin’s support in India’s efforts to combat terrorism during the visit.
