In the Rajya Sabha, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is expected to present a Bill to amend the Central Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017. This follows the Lok Sabha’s prior approval. Additionally, she will introduce the Provisional Collection of Taxes Bill, 2023, seeking consideration and return. The latter bill aims to provide immediate effect for a limited period to provisions in Bills related to customs or excise duties.
Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will move a motion in the Rajya Sabha for the election to the court of the University of Delhi. The House will proceed to elect one member, as directed by the Chairman, to be a part of the University’s Court.
Several Members of Parliament, including Tiruchi Siva, Birendra Prasad Baishya, and Sulata Deo, are set to present the 324th Report of the Department-related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Industry. The report focuses on the ‘Promotion of Electric Vehicles in the Country’ under the Ministry of Heavy Industries.
Additionally, Union Minister Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti will make a statement regarding the status of implementing recommendations from the 29th Report of the Department-related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Rural Development and Panchayati Raj. The report pertains to Demands for Grants for the year 2023-24 related to the Department of Rural Development.
LT. General D P Vats ATS (retd) and Dr. Ashok Bajpai are expected to table the forty-second Report (Seventeenth Lok Sabha) of the Department-related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defence. The report focuses on ‘A review of the working of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).’
