In a recent incident, Pimpri Chinchwad police in Pune arrested a man on Tuesday for misbehaving with a Korean female vlogger. The arrest followed the circulation of a viral video featuring the vlogger, identified as Kelly, exploring the streets of Pune. The video depicted an uncomfortable encounter where a man inappropriately touched the vlogger, who was holding a coconut in her hand. Expressing her discomfort in the video, the vlogger mentioned, “They really like to Hug.”
The incident occurred in November in Pune’s Ravet area, and Kelly uploaded the video on her YouTube channel, causing widespread outrage on social media. Maharashtra Police took swift action, arresting the accused under Sections 354 (Assault or criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and Section 294 (punishment for obscene acts or words in public) of the IPC.
A statement from ACP Satish Mane of Pimpri Chinchwad police revealed, “Taking cognizance of the viral video, the crime branch unit tracked down the man from the Ravet area of Pimpri Chinchwad and arrested him on Tuesday. An FIR has been registered under IPC sections 354 and 294, and further investigation is ongoing.”
In a separate incident in Mumbai last year, a South Korean national and YouTuber faced harassment and molestation during a live stream from the Khar area. The Mumbai Police subsequently arrested two individuals involved in the case of harassment. These incidents highlight the importance of addressing and preventing such misconduct, ensuring the safety of individuals, especially those in the public eye.
