Bharat pacer Umesh Yadav is all set for an exciting stint with the Gujarat Titans (GT) in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL). The player, who was sold to GT for Rs 5.8 crore in the IPL auction in Dubai, expressed his enthusiasm about bowling alongside teammates Mohammed Shami and Mohit Sharma. The trio had previously formed a formidable pace attack during the 2015 Cricket World Cup.
Reflecting on the upcoming collaboration, Umesh Yadav shared his anticipation, stating, “It has been quite a while since Shami, Mohit Sharma, and I were part of the 2015 World Cup squad. Those memories are coming back.” He praised Shami’s current bowling form and predicted that they would have a lot of fun on the field. Umesh highlighted the partnership they had with the red ball and hinted at strategizing for the middle overs.
Umesh Yadav, with 12 wickets in nine T20Is and a career total of 193 wickets in 186 matches, expressed his excitement about joining GT. Despite facing challenges in previous auctions, he expressed contentment at being picked and shared his eagerness to work with coach Ashish Nehra. Yadav praised Nehra’s coaching style and the positive atmosphere he creates in the dressing room.
Discussing his transition from playing for Delhi Capitals (DC) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for six years each, Umesh acknowledged the challenges of adapting to a new management, team, and environment. He admitted that it takes time for him to open up to new people but expressed confidence that GT would be the best fit for him, especially with the familiar faces of Shami and Mohit in the team.
