People in North Bharat woke up to a freezing morning as a cold wave tightened its grip on the region. The national capital, Delhi, experienced even colder temperatures on Monday, recording 9.4 degrees Celsius, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The cold was accompanied by dense fog, reducing visibility to 125 meters in several parts of Delhi and causing low visibility in most parts of the National Capital Region (NCR).

Fog Blankets Delhi: Limited Visibility and Cautious Commuting
Visuals from various parts of Delhi, including Lodhi Road, Munirka, RK Puram, and Ring Road near AIIMS, depicted a thick layer of fog hanging overhead. The streets saw only a few vehicles and commuters venturing out, emphasizing the need for caution in the low visibility conditions. The chilling weather prompted people to gather near fires in the Lodhi Road area to stay warm.
Air Quality Deteriorates: ‘Very Poor’ Category
Adding to the challenges, Delhi’s air quality on Monday remained in the ‘very poor’ category, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) hovering around 400, as reported by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). The AQI scale categorizes air quality, and a reading between 301 and 400 falls under the ‘very poor’ classification.
