In an event in Moscow, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar expressed the exceptional and enduring nature of the relationship between Bharat and Russia. Despite the fluctuations in relationships among major countries over the past 60-80 years, Jaishankar highlighted the constant and special bond shared by Bharat and Russia.
Jaishankar emphasized the importance of trust in international cooperation, particularly in fields like defense, space, and nuclear energy. He mentioned that countries engage in collaborations only with those they have a “high degree” of trust in, underlining the depth of the partnership between India and Russia.
During the interaction with the Indian community in Moscow, Jaishankar urged them to contribute to deepening the mutually beneficial cooperation between the two nations. He appreciated the community’s role in building a strong collaboration and fostering close ties between civil societies in Bharat and Russia.
Confirming a meeting with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov, Jaishankar expressed his optimism about the continued strong relationship between the two countries. He acknowledged the significant transformations in Bharat and Russia over the last 70-80 years but highlighted the constant nature of their diplomatic ties.
Highlighting the special partnership between Bharat and Russia in key areas such as defense, nuclear energy, and space, Jaishankar pointed out that these collaborations signify a high level of trust between the two nations. He mentioned the signing of important agreements related to the future units of the Kudankulam Nuclear Project during his visit, reinforcing the quality of the relationship.
The External Affairs Minister also acknowledged the strong cooperation India received from Russia during its G20 presidency and affirmed India’s commitment to supporting Moscow’s presidency of the BRICS grouping in the coming year. Jaishankar’s visit to Russia aims to strengthen diplomatic ties and foster cooperation in various fields between the two nations.
