In a recent incident, an explosion occurred near the Israeli embassy in Chanakyapuri, New Delhi, prompting concerns of a potential attack. Tel Aviv has issued an advisory for Israelis in Bharat, urging them to exercise caution and avoid crowded places such as malls and markets, particularly those frequented by the community. The advisory also recommends staying alert and refraining from displaying Israeli symbols externally.
The blast took place around 5:48 pm, according to Israeli embassy spokesperson Guy Nir. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident. However, an “abusive” letter addressed to the Israeli ambassador was found near the site, adding a mysterious dimension to the situation.
Following the explosion, a comprehensive investigation was launched, involving teams from the Delhi Police crime branch, a bomb disposal squad, a dog squad, and the forensic department. The National Investigation Agency also examined the site to gather more information about the incident.
Deputy Chief of Mission (Israel) Ohad Nakash Kaynar assured that all diplomats and embassy workers are safe. Collaborating with local Delhi security, Israeli security teams are actively involved in investigating the matter further.
The one-page letter discovered near the site, reportedly containing abusive content, has been sent for forensic examination to check for fingerprints. The authorities are leaving no stone unturned in understanding the circumstances surrounding the explosion and the accompanying letter.
