In a grand event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi received an enthusiastic welcome upon his arrival in Ayodhya, the holy city set to witness the consecration of the Ram Temple in January. People showered flowers as he took a lap of honor on his way to inaugurate the redeveloped Ayodhya railway station and Maharishi Valmiki International Airport. The city was adorned with flowers, murals, and ornamental columns, with heavy security deployments in place.
PM Modi’s visit precedes the upcoming consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple on January 22. During his visit, he is scheduled to inaugurate the redeveloped Ayodhya railway station, Maharishi Valmiki International Airport, and participate in various public programs. The redeveloped railway station and airport are part of a larger vision to enhance infrastructure and connectivity in Ayodhya.
The newly built Ayodhya airport, developed in Phase 1 at a cost exceeding Rs 1450 crore, boasts a state-of-the-art terminal building covering 6500 sqm. The facade of the building reflects the architecture of the upcoming Shri Ram Mandir, and the interiors are adorned with local art depicting the life of Bhagwan Shri Ram. Sustainability features, such as LED lighting, rainwater harvesting, and a solar power plant, contribute to its GRIHA 5-star rating. The airport is expected to boost tourism, business activities, and employment opportunities in the region.
Simultaneously, Phase I of the redeveloped Ayodhya Railway Station, known as Ayodhya Dham Junction Railway Station, has been completed at a cost exceeding Rs 240 crore. The modern three-storey station building is equipped with lifts, escalators, food plazas, shops, cloakrooms, child care rooms, and waiting halls. It is designed to be accessible for all and has received IGBC certification as a green station building.
Prime Minister Modi’s vision for Ayodhya includes developing world-class infrastructure while preserving the city’s rich history and heritage. The inauguration of the airport, railway station, and other civic infrastructure aligns with this vision, promising improved connectivity and enhanced civic facilities for Ayodhya and its surrounding areas. The projects aim to contribute to the beautification and overall development of the temple town.
