Amid grave threat to national security constantly posed by unparalleled attacks, Chief Minister N Biren Singh convened a high-level meeting of the State BJP unit to tackle the evolving challenges in Manipur.

N Biren Singh, who has been serving as Manipur’s chief minister since 2017, wrote on his X handle, “In recent times, the unprecedented attacks against the forces in Manipur have become a serious national security threat. Security forces from both State and Centre are constantly engaged in maintaining control over the circumstances. However, it is crucial for the joint security forces to adopt a robust and comprehensive approach to face these elements, who are relentlessly challenging to destabilise the State of Manipur.”

The high level meeting took place in presence of Manipur BJP chief A Sharda Devi, Cabinet Ministers, MLAs and party workers “to deliberate on a rigorous approach to deal with elements, who are hell bent on destabilising Manipur” said the CM.

CM Biren added that “a team will visit Delhi to meet the Central leaders in this matter soon”.
Manipur has been reeling under violence since ethnic conflict between the Meitei and Kuki-Zo communities began on May 3.

Among many other violent incidents, a fierce gun battle in Manipur’s border town Moreh between security forces and armed militants is the recent one that occurred on December 31.

Armed militants launched an assault on security forces at around 4:20 pm at Moreh in Tengnoupal district, as per sources.

The forces retaliated after the armed militants attacked reportedly from ward number 7 of the Chawangphai village and Kananveng. Fortunately, no reports of any casualty or injury have surfaced from the gun battle site.

The meeting is aimed at ensuring the safety and security of all its people amidst the complicated social landscape.
