In a significant development, the Ministry of Home Affairs has officially declared Goldy Brar, a Canada-based gangster, as a designated terrorist under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). Brar, also known as Satinderjit Singh, gained notoriety for claiming responsibility for the audacious murder of Bharat rap star and Congress politician, Sidhu Moosewala.
Satinderjit Singh, who went to Canada in 2017 on a student visa, has been conducting criminal activities from there, including involvement in murders and extortion. The official notification from the Centre revealed that Brar, associated with the pro-Khalistan terrorist group Babbar Khalsa, has close ties to gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.
The Centre’s notification stated that Goldy Brar, born on April 11, 1994, and currently residing in Canada’s Brampton, is backed by a cross-border agency and has been linked to multiple killings. Brar is reported to profess radical ideology and has been making threatening calls to pro-nationalist leaders, demanding ransom, and posting claims of killings on various social media platforms.
Furthermore, Goldy Brar has been implicated in the smuggling of high-grade arms, ammunition, and explosive materials through drones from across the border. These supplies are allegedly used for his violent activities. The Centre accused Brar of conspiring to disrupt peace, communal harmony, and law and order in Punjab through nefarious designs, including sabotage, raising terror modules, carrying out targeted killings, and other anti-national activities.
Notably, last year, the Central Government issued a red-corner notice to INTERPOL regarding Goldy Brar. The government firmly believes that Satwinder Singh alias Satinderjit Singh alias Goldy Brar is involved in terrorism, and as a result, he is to be added as a terrorist in the Fourth Schedule of the UAPA.
Goldy Brar had previously claimed responsibility for the 2022 murder of Sidhu Moosewala in Punjab’s Mansa. According to a comprehensive 1,850-page chargesheet filed in the Moose Wala murder case, Brar was identified as the mastermind behind the killing. In a social media post, Brar asserted that he orchestrated the singer’s murder to avenge the killing of student leader Vicky Middukhera.
This declaration by the Ministry of Home Affairs marks a significant step in addressing cross-border criminal activities and ensuring the safety and security of the region.
