The much-anticipated consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya is drawing near, scheduled for January 22. Union Minister Pralhad Joshi has unveiled the photo of the Lord Ram statue that will grace the temple, carved by renowned sculptor Arun Yogiraj from Karnataka.
In a recent social media post, Minister Joshi expressed his excitement, stating that the selection of the idol for the Prana Pratishtapana (consecration) of Lord Rama in Ayodhya has been finalized. The idol, crafted by sculptor Yogiraj Arun, will be installed during the grand ceremony.
Sculptor Yogiraj’s mother shared her joy, expressing that witnessing the idol’s installation would be the happiest moment for them. She mentioned that she had eagerly awaited the moment to set her eyes on the idol on the day of its grand installation at the Ram Temple.
The consecration ceremony is set to commence at 12:20 pm on January 22, marking a significant milestone in the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged people to light special ‘diyas’ in their homes on January 22, likening the day to ‘Diwali’ to celebrate the ‘pran pratishtha’ at the Ram temple. The Prime Minister visited Ayodhya on December 30, inaugurating various projects and laying the foundation stone for others.
The Supreme Court’s historic verdict in 2019 supported the construction of the Ram temple by a trust at the disputed site in Ayodhya, settling a century-old contentious issue.
Vedic rituals for the Pran-Pratishtha ceremony will commence on January 16, a week before the main ceremony. A priest from Varanasi, Lakshmi Kant Dixit, will lead the rituals on January 22, marking the Amrit Mahautsav from January 14 to January 22.
The event is expected to draw lakhs of devotees to Ayodhya, with over 7,000 guests from India and abroad in attendance. The Sri Ram Janambhoomi Trust has made arrangements for 10,000-15,000 people, including the organization of a 1008 Hundi Mahayagya to feed thousands of devotees. Tent cities are being erected to accommodate the influx of devotees for this momentous occasion. Ayodhya’s grand consecration is poised to be a historical and spiritual event.
