The US Secretary of State Antony Blinken is in the middle east, wherein he will also visit Israel, a senior official told news agencies on the condition of anonymity.
The trip comes ahead of Israel Hamas war expanding into a broader regional conflict. Tensions rose after an alleged attack by the Israel forces killed Saleh Al Arouri, the deputy head of Hamas Political Bureau. Following which terror group Hezbollah has vowed of a retaliatory attack.
Hezbollah which has dominant presence in Iraq, Syria and Yemen pledged dire consequences and said that their attacks will include long range missile attacks in Israel. Hamas said in a statement that they will avenge the death of Al-Arouri who was killed in a Zionist attack in Beirut.
Blinken’s visit to the Israel is to mitigate diplomatic efforts and felicitate delivery of humanitarian aid to the besieged strip of Gaza. Reports suggest that Antony Blinken will also urge Israel to reduce the number civilian casualties in the war.
According to the media reports US is concerned about the impact of the Israel Hamas war which could spread into regional war as Iranian backed ‘Axis of resistance’ threatens of retaliation against the Jewish state of Israel for its strikes on Palestinian officials on the foreign soil.
Blinken will also be visiting Turkey. Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said that the Secretary of State is expected to hold bilaterals with the Turkish officials.
