As Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party leader, Arvind Kejriwal continues to disregard the summons by the Enforcement Directorate in connection to the Delhi Liquor Policy case, Delhi BJP Chief Virendra Sachdeva dubbed AAP as “Choro ki Baarat” or “Procession of Thieves”. He clarified this saying that the AAP leaders are continuously making noises and mourning for Kejriwal, while he was busy “running away” from them.
Delhi CM has so far sidelined three summons by the investigative agency and has been instead attending political campaigns or going for Vipassana. Speculations were rife that the AAP leader could possibly be arrested on Thursday since the Delhi Police increased security outside Kejriwal’s official residence. However, ED has refuted the claims, adding that it would issue a fourth summon to CM Kejriwal.
Speaking to the news agency ANI, Sachdeva said that it is CM Arvind Kejriwal’s responsibility to follow the rules, adding that if the AAP leader claims to be an honest man, he must go with evidence to the investigative agency. (BYTE: VIDEO 2: from 0.34 to 0.46) Virendra Sachdeva, Delhi BJP Chief
Union Minister Anurag Thakur on Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal said that before Kejriwal came into politics, he spoke a lot about honesty. However, now, he and his party have proved that they are completely dishonest, and one after another scams keep coming. He added that though Kejriwal may deny it, he is equally involved in all of these scams. (BYTE: VIDEO 7: from start to 0.45) Anurag Thakur, Union Minister
While addressing the media, Kejriwal today called the summons “illegal”, and claimed that he is not involved in any corruption. He further alleged that the BJP party wants to get him arrested and prevent him from campaigning for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. “My biggest asset is my honesty and they want to dent it,” he said. Notably, ED had on Wednesday stated that it was examining the reply sent to it by Kejriwal regarding his refusal to appear before the agency, adding that the agency will send him a fourth summons. Amid this, sources have told news agency PTI that Delhi CM would be leaving for a three-day tour to Gujarat on Saturday to campaign for the upcoming elections.
Arvind Kejriwal was supposed to appear before ED on Wednesday i.e. January 3 as per the third summons issued to him. The Delhi CM had even ignored the second summons, and instead went for a 10-day Vipassana meditation camp in Punjab, dubbing the summons as “pure propaganda”. When he had received the summons for the first time, the AAP leader had labeled it as a “fishing and roving” exercise and “politically motivated”. Till now, AAP MP Sanjay Singh, Delhi Minister Satyendra Jain, and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia have been arrested for their involvement in the case.
