In a recent development, Union Minister Giriraj Singh has strongly criticized Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge for his comments on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Kharge, unveiling the logo and slogan of Congress’s ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’, accused PM Modi of not visiting Manipur amid ethnic violence. Singh countered by accusing the Congress of engaging in ‘political’ tourism, highlighting that during their government, Manipur witnessed six years of turmoil. He asserted that the current government, led by PM Modi and Home Minister, is actively working towards finding solutions.
Addressing the situation in West Bengal, Singh expressed concerns over the attack on an Enforcement Directorate (ED) team. He claimed that there is a lack of democracy in the state and likened it to “Kim Jong Un’s government.” The attack occurred during a raid related to an alleged ration scam case involving Trinamool Congress leaders.
The ED team faced resistance in Sandeshkhali village, North 24 Parganas, when attempting to conduct raids at the residences of TMC leaders, including former Bongaon Municipality Chairman Shankar Adhya and TMC leader Sheikh Shahjahan. Shahjahan, also the Fisheries and Animal Resources Officer of North 24 Parganas Zilla Parishad, faced protests from supporters outside his residence. The situation escalated, resulting in a mob attacking ED officials and damaging their vehicles. Two officials sustained injuries during the incident.
The Minister accused the West Bengal government of working against the federal structure and criticized the state’s governance as undemocratic. The incident has raised concerns about the state of law and order in West Bengal, with political tensions escalating between the ruling TMC and the central government agencies.
