Lebanon based terror group Hezbollah targeted a vital Israeli military post with a barrage of 62 rockets in what is being considered a retaliation to the killing of Hamas leader Saleh-Al-Arouri in Beirut this week.
The attack comes after Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah on Friday touted that Lebanon will be exposed if it did not react to the killing of Hamas deputy chief Al Arouri and warned it would “certainly not go without reaction and punishment”.
Hezbollah released a statement announcing that 62 rockets were launched towards the Israeli air surveillance base on Mount Meron and that there were some direct hits. The Israel defence reacted to the attacks with a series of attacks in southern Lebanon after the rockets were fired. The forces said in an official statement that its fighter jets had attacked a number of locations run by Hezbollah in the areas of Aita al-Sha’ab, Yaron and Ramya. There have been no reports of damage or casualties.
Reportedly, following the tensions US Secretary of State Antony Blinken kicked off an immediate trip to the middle east including Israel. Reportedly this was his fourth visit to the Middle east, as US and Europe try to salvage the deteriorating condition and further spillover of the three month old Gaza war into Lebanon, the Israeli-occupied West Bank, and Red Sea shipping lanes.
Chaos draws nearer with Israel and Hezbollah trading fire across the border, West bank boiling with emotion and Iran-aligned Houthis continuing their attack on Red Sea shipping lanes.
