With an aim to bring holistic development and uplift the hill district, Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, in presence of local dignitaries, unveiled and dedicated a slew of key transformative projects and presented his vision for progress and prosperity in Karbi Anglong on January 8.
State-of-the-art Kajir Ronghangpi Guest House with an investment of ₹5.56 crore at Taralangso is among the key initiatives. Sertalin Auditorium, with 3,000 seats and investment of ₹35 crore, will be the magnificent cultural hub for the district.
Committed to conserving the aesthetic value and enhancing local ecosystems of Taralangso, the Assam Government has invested ₹2.55 crore for the beautification of ‘Langkung Fang’ fishery and invested ₹2 crore for the beautification of ‘Kuleng Abi’ fishery.
The Rangsina Sarpo Ahongjai Permanent Open Stage, constructed at a cost of ₹5.50 crore, demonstrates the vibrant artistic heritage and will raise further the cultural quotient of Karbi Anglong by providing a platform to showcase talents of local performers and artists.
Rongbong Artu at the Karbi Capital Complex, worth ₹6.86 crore, will be instrumental in enhancing the architectural landscape of the area.
To further enhance the aesthetic appeal of public spaces, the Himanta Sarma Government has invested ₹3.77 crore for landscaping and beautification initiatives at the Karbi People’s Hall. Apart from this, ₹4.22 crore were spent in the construction of historically and culturally significant Cheleng Athepai, a memorial to Jirlong Ariso.
State-of-the-art Sing Mirjeng VIP Gallery, with an investment of ₹99 lakh, is a unique venue for events and gatherings. The New Market Complex at Rongkhelan, built at a cost of ₹10 crore, will become a commercial centre leading to economic growth.
The Sarsing Teron-Langkung Habe Multi-purpose Sports Complex, worth ₹75 crore investments, provided a reason to rejoice as the sports enthusiasts in Karbi Anglong will be able to nurture talent and encourage a culture of fitness.
Karbi Anglong’s transportation infrastructure will be enhanced with the construction of ₹12 crore-Song Bey Inter State Bus Terminus, and ₹5 crore-Truck Terminus.
