Union Minister Kapil M Patil praised Tripura for its effective implementation of various rural schemes during his two-day visit to the Northeastern State.
Patil conducted a review meeting of the Panchayat department, highlighting Tripura’s success in implementing schemes such as MGNREGA, PMAY (G), and initiatives for drinking water, sanitation, and electricity.
He noted the collaboration between gram panchayats and block development offices, emphasizing their joint efforts in delivering benefits to the people.
Patil mentioned Tripura has completed groundwork for issuing property cards under the Swamitva scheme and commended the State’s accomplishments in housing projects and MGNREGA, generating 18.71 crore over the last five years.
During review tour of the villages, he met Shikha Dey, a worker in the Tripureshwari Vermi Compost and Goat Dung Manure Production and Selling Unit in North Chandrapur village located near Udaipur in Gomti district of Tripura.
Sharing her success story, he said while working at the Unit, Shikha De “bought a new rickshaw for her husband and gave a different direction to the economic development of her family. I found her journey very inspiring…”
There he expressed happiness over participation of rural women in this industry.
Apart from this, Patil was the chief guest in the inauguration and lamp lighting ceremony of the residence of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin beneficiary Sabita Dhar from South Murapara Gram Panchayat in Matabari Block of Gomati District of Tripura.
The minister conveyed there was a festive atmosphere in the whole village as beneficiaries like Sabita Dhar’s house was completed and received an amount of Rs 1,30,000 under the PM Awas Yojana Gramin and Rs 20,140 under the MNREGA.
He lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi for initiating his goal of providing house to every person in this country and said “this is the miracle of PM Modi”.
Tripura was sanctioned 4.12 lakh houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin, of which 3.15 lakh houses have already been completed.
