Bharatiya Janata Party or BJP National president JP Nadda accused the Congress of dismissing 90 State governments through the misuse of Article 356 during its tenure. Nadda pointed to historical instances, questioning the stability of the Assam Government led by CM Himanta Biswa Sarma in light of Congress’ past actions.
Nadda criticized the Congress, stating that those who have been unjust are now planning a ‘Nyay Yatra.’
Appreciating PM Narendra Modi for giving constitutional status to OBC, Nadda highlighted historical injustices, including Jawaharlal Nehru preventing BR Ambedkar from entering Parliament and the Congress misusing Article 356 to dismiss State governments 90 times, including the first elected left government in Kerala under Indira Gandhi’s leadership.
He raised concerns about the potential consequences if someone were to topple Himanta Biswa Sarma’s Government.
In response to Congress’ ‘Bharat Nyay Yatra,’ Nadda questioned Rahul Gandhi about the 1984 anti-Sikh riots during his journey. The BJP chief’s remarks came during a roadshow in Assam capital Guwahati, part of preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
Thousands welcomed Nadda during the roadshow, where cultural troupes showcased performances. Nadda participated in a crucial State executive meeting in Assam, emphasizing preparations for the elections.
Nadda’s three-day visit to Assam and Arunachal Pradesh includes meetings with party leaders, reviewing election preparations, and chairing core committee meetings. The BJP’s efforts are seen as a strategic move to garner support ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
