In a significant move towards the socio-economic welfare of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs), Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to release the first installment to 1 lakh beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) scheme. The event, scheduled for January 15 at 12 noon, will be conducted via video conference, allowing the Prime Minister to interact with the beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN) programme.

Launched on November 15, 2023, on Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas, PM-JANMAN is aligned with the Prime Minister’s vision of Antyodaya, aiming to empower the last person at the last mile. The initiative focuses on the socio-economic upliftment of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups, encompassing 11 critical interventions across 9 ministries, with a substantial budget of approximately Rs 24,000 crore.

The primary objective of PM-JANMAN is to enhance the socio-economic conditions of PVTGs by ensuring the saturation of their households and habitations with fundamental amenities. These include provisions for safe housing, clean drinking water, sanitation facilities, improved access to education, healthcare, and nutrition, as well as initiatives to provide electricity, road and telecom connectivity, and sustainable livelihood opportunities.

The release of the first installment signifies a crucial step in realizing the goals of PM-JANMAN and underscores the government’s commitment to uplifting the living standards of those belonging to Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups. This event is expected to pave the way for positive transformations in the lives of numerous beneficiaries, aligning with the broader vision of inclusive development championed by the Prime Minister.
