Days ahead of the Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha event, Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia marked a significant milestone by inaugurating the first Air India Express flights connecting Ayodhya to Bengaluru and Kolkata. The inauguration ceremony witnessed the presence of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who received the boarding pass for the inaugural flight from Kolkata to Ayodhya.
During the inauguration event, Minister Scindia emphasized the remarkable development taking place in Uttar Pradesh under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He highlighted the state’s substantial population, mentioning that nearly 70% of the US population resides in Uttar Pradesh, along with half of Europe’s population. Minister Scindia also alluded to the upcoming celebration on the 22nd, referring to it as the “third Diwali.”
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, participating through a video conference, lauded the progress in air connectivity in Uttar Pradesh. He noted that over the past nine years, the state has witnessed the establishment of new airports, including four international airports. Prime Minister Modi had inaugurated the Maharishi Valmiki International Airport in Ayodhya on December 30, further enhancing the state’s aviation infrastructure.
Earlier announcements indicated that routine flights at Ayodhya’s Maharishi Valmiki International Airport would commence, with an anticipated increase in the number of flights. The Airports Authority of India, in collaboration with the Government of Uttar Pradesh, spearheaded the development of Ayodhya Airport, investing more than Rs 1450 crore in the state-of-the-art facility.
The airport’s terminal building, spanning 6,500 square meters, is designed to accommodate approximately 10 lakh passengers annually. Notably, the facade of the terminal building showcases the architectural essence of the upcoming Shri Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. Inside, the terminal is adorned with local art, paintings, and murals depicting the life of Bhagwan Shri Ram.
The inauguration of these new Air India Express flights and the development of Ayodhya Airport underscore the commitment to enhancing connectivity and infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh, contributing to the overall progress of the state.
