In a significant diplomatic move, President of Israel, Isaac Herzog, accompanied by First Lady Michal Herzog, is set to embark on a day-long visit to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. The primary focus of this mission is to bolster international efforts to secure the release of hostages held by Hamas in Gaza.
The President’s office has confirmed that the trip aligns with Israel’s ongoing commitment to resolving the hostage situation. President Herzog aims to leverage this platform to engage in crucial meetings, urging world leaders to intensify political pressure for the swift and safe return of all those held captive by Hamas.
To convey the urgency of the matter, President Herzog plans to share in-depth details of the atrocities committed by Hamas terrorists on October 7. The President will be accompanied by representatives of the hostages’ families, emphasizing the human aspect of the crisis, as he addresses the Forum and conducts diplomatic meetings.
In addition to advocating for the release of hostages, the President will highlight Israel’s humanitarian efforts integral to the overall campaign. He will underscore the severity of the security threat faced by both Israel and the broader region as long as Hamas maintains control over the Gaza Strip.
Meanwhile, First Lady Michal Herzog will contribute to a distinguished panel discussing antisemitism globally. Joining her on the panel are Douglas Emhoff, the Second Gentleman of the United States and the Jewish husband of Vice President Kamala Harris, along with Jonathan Greenblatt, Executive Director of the Anti-Defamation League.
This visit to Davos reflects Israel’s commitment to diplomatic channels and international collaboration in addressing critical issues, extending beyond regional conflicts to broader humanitarian concerns.
