Former Bharat spinner Harbhajan Singh announced on Friday that he plans to visit the Ram temple in Ayodhya for the ‘pran-pratishtha’ ceremony scheduled for January 22, describing it as a “historic day.” Singh expressed his excitement and urged people to attend the event in large numbers, emphasizing the significance of seeking blessings on this auspicious occasion.
In response to the Congress declining the invitation for the consecration ceremony, Harbhajan Singh stated that it’s an individual’s choice whether to attend, and he personally feels compelled to visit the Ram temple. He acknowledged differing opinions but stressed the importance of celebrating the inauguration of the temple, which he considers a momentous event.
Harbhajan Singh took a swipe at the Congress, which accused the BJP of using the temple ceremony for “political motives.” He mentioned that while political matters are separate, the inauguration of the temple is a positive development, and everyone has the freedom to decide whether or not to participate. Singh encouraged people to express their opinions respectfully.
The cricketer extended his congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, acknowledging his leadership in the construction of the Ram temple. He expressed his faith in religion and God, highlighting his practice of visiting various places of worship, including temples, mosques, and gurudwaras. Singh emphasized that he considers it fortunate to witness the inauguration of the temple in his lifetime.
Meanwhile, Congress leaders, including Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, and Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, declined the invitation, declaring it as a political event. Rahul Gandhi criticized the event, calling it a “completely political Narendra Modi function” and expressing difficulty for Congress leaders to attend a function centered around the Prime Minister.
Ayodhya is abuzz with excitement as preparations for the pran pratishtha ceremony of Ram Lalla are underway. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inspected the arrangements on Friday, expressing satisfaction with the planning and execution. The idol of Ram Lalla was placed in the ‘Garbha Griha’ of the Ram temple on Thursday amid chants of ‘Jai Shri Ram,’ marking a significant step towards the temple’s inauguration.
