In a historic move, three Canadian municipalities have officially recognized the upcoming pran pratishtha ceremony at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, Bharat. The Hindu Canadian Foundation (HCF) and Vishwa Jain Sanghathan Canada (VJSC) have successfully obtained proclamations from the cities of Brampton, Oakville, and Brantford, declaring January 22, 2024, as Ayodhya Ram Mandir Day.
Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown, in his proclamation, highlighted that the celebration of this day serves as an opportunity for the community to honor and recognize the cultural and spiritual significance of the momentous occasion. This recognition extends to the consecration ceremony when the idol of Sri Ram will be invoked with life in Ayodhya, Bharat.
Arunesh Giri, the founder and president of HCF, expressed their celebration through billboards installed in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). These billboards are not just informative but also serve as backdrops for celebratory selfies, spreading the festive spirit and creating a sense of unity among the community.
Vijay Jain, president of VJSC, emphasized the historical importance of this moment, stating that for dharmic people worldwide, this celebration is akin to another Diwali, signifying its significance on a global scale.
To mark the occasion, a car rally is scheduled to take place in the GTA with over 100 vehicles expected to participate. The highlight of the rally will be a 20-foot-long digital truck, contributing to the grandeur of the celebration. Additionally, three other rallies are scheduled in Ottawa, Windsor in Ontario, and Surrey in British Columbia. The Hindu Society of Calgary will celebrate the consecration ceremony as Ramotsav in Alberta.
Vishwa Hindu Parishad Canada has been actively collaborating with temples across the country for weeks leading up to the ceremony. Over 115 events are planned in Canada over the weekend and into Monday, showcasing the widespread enthusiasm and participation of the community in this joyous occasion.
In a coordinated effort, Canada India Foundation, along with VJSC, has arranged for food trucks to travel through the GTA on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, offering free food and prasad to the community. This gesture adds a charitable and communal element to the celebrations, fostering a spirit of togetherness and shared joy during Ayodhya Ram Mandir Day in Canada.
