Just a day before, on January 18th, the Ram Lalla idol was ceremoniously installed in the sanctum sanctorum of the Ram Mandir. The photographs of the idol reveal intricate and delicate structures, portraying Lord Ram as a five-year-old boy standing on a lotus. Crafted from ‘shyamal’ (dark) stone, the 150 kg, and 51-inch idol was sculpted by the renowned artist Arun Yogiraj from Mysuru.
The idol’s left hand is poised in the position of holding a bow, although the bow itself has not yet been placed. Images captured outside the temple depict Ram Lalla holding a bow and arrow, symbolizing the iconic imagery associated with Lord Ram. The Pram Pratishtha, or consecration ceremony, for the idol installed on the mandapa is scheduled during the auspicious ‘Abhijeet Muhurta’ from 12:20 pm to 1 pm.
In the intricate ceremonies leading up to the major event, Ganeshwar Shastri Dravid, a priest and Vedic scholar from Kashi, will be leading and managing a group of 121 acharyas. These acharyas hold the responsibility of executing the various rituals preceding the grand consecration ceremony.
The role of principal acharya has been entrusted to Laxmikant M Dixit from Kashi, who hails from a lineage descending from the distinguished Kashi scholar Gaga Bhatt of the 17th century. Gaga Bhatt played a pivotal role in the coronation of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj around 350 years ago in 1674, marking a historical connection to the rich cultural and religious heritage surrounding the Ram Mandir.
As the city of Nagpur and devotees across the nation eagerly await the consecration ceremony, the air is filled with excitement, reverence, and a sense of unity in celebration of this significant milestone in the establishment of the Ram Mandir.
