In a momentous occasion, the idol of Ram Lalla was unveiled on Monday at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya, graced by the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Prime Minister himself led the rituals at the Pran Pratishtha ceremony held in the sanctum sanctorum of the grand temple. The atmosphere was filled with a deep sense of devotion as Indian Air Force (IAF) choppers showered flower petals over the temple premises during this sacred event.
Devotees and guests enthusiastically chanted ‘Jai Sri Ram’ as the ceremony unfolded. Prominent figures including RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, and state Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath were among the dignitaries present at the ceremony. With over 8,000 guests in attendance, the historic Pran Pratishtha ceremony witnessed representatives from various spiritual and religious sects across the country, including those from diverse tribal communities.
The grand temple, constructed in the traditional Nagara style, stands with impressive dimensions – 380 feet in length, 250 feet in width, and 161 feet in height. Supported by 392 pillars and adorned with 44 doors, the temple’s pillars and walls showcase intricate sculptures depicting Hindu deities, gods, and goddesses. The main sanctum sanctorum on the ground floor houses the idol of Shri Ramlalla, depicting the childhood form of Bhagwan Shri Ram.
The main entrance to the Mandir, situated on the eastern side, is approached by ascending 32 stairs through the Singh Dwar. The temple boasts five halls – Nritya Mandap, Rang Mandap, Sabha Mandap, Prathana Mandap, and Kirtan Mandap. Nearby, a historic well known as Sita koop, dating back to ancient times, adds to the cultural significance of the site. Additionally, the Mandir complex includes the restored ancient Mandir of Bhagwan Shiv at Kuber Tila, featuring a statue of Jatayu.
The Mandir’s foundation is notable for its construction with a 14-meter-thick layer of roller-compacted concrete (RCC), providing the appearance of artificial rock. In a unique approach, no iron has been used anywhere in the Mandir. A 21-foot-high plinth constructed using granite safeguards against ground moisture, and the complex is equipped with essential facilities such as a sewage treatment plant, water treatment plant, fire safety water supply, and an independent power station. The Mandir proudly embraces the country’s traditional and indigenous technology in its construction. Prime Minister Modi, during the ceremony, also interacted with shramjeevis associated with the temple’s construction and visited the restored ancient Mandir of Bhagwan Shiv at Kuber Tila.
