Ayodhya witnessed a historic event as Prime Minister Narendra Modi performed the ‘aarti’ of the Ram Lalla idol at the newly constructed Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple on Monday. The ceremony included the unveiling of the idol in the presence of the Prime Minister, who also led the rituals at the Pran Pratishtha ceremony.
The main sanctum sanctorum on the ground floor of the temple now houses the childhood form of Lord Ram, known as Shri Ramlalla. PM Modi, after the unveiling, performed ‘parikrama’ of the deity and offered ‘dandvat pranam,’ seeking blessings from the revered ‘sadhus’ present at the ceremony.
Notable dignitaries, including RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, and state Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, attended the ceremony. Indian Air Force (IAF) choppers added to the grandeur by showering flower petals over the temple premises during the idol unveiling.
A staggering 8,000 guests, including representatives from major spiritual and religious sects, witnessed the historic Pran Pratishtha ceremony. People from various walks of life, including members of tribal communities, were also in attendance, making it a diverse and inclusive event.
In a significant gesture, the Prime Minister plans to interact with ‘shramjeevis’ who contributed to the construction of Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Mandir. Later in the day, he will visit Kuber Tila, where the ancient Mandir of Bhagwan Shiv has been restored.
The Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Mandir, constructed in the traditional Nagara style, boasts impressive dimensions. With a length of 380 feet, width of 250 feet, and a height of 161 feet, the temple stands supported by 392 pillars and features 44 doors. The pillars and walls are adorned with intricate sculptures depicting Hindu deities, gods, and goddesses, adding to the architectural and spiritual significance of the temple.
