The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) kicked off its campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha Election in 2024 with the release of a 2-minute 10-second video featuring a vibrant theme song titled ‘Tabhi toh sab Modi ko chunte’ (That’s why people choose Modi). The video highlights the achievements of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s tenure, showcasing government schemes like Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), Har Ghar Nal Scheme, and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, aiming to connect with the voters.
In the virtual address to young voters organized by the BJP’s youth wing, PM Modi emphasized the pivotal role of the youth in shaping Bharat’s future. He expressed his responsibility in leading the country’s development over the next 25 years, drawing parallels with the generation that fought for independence before 1947. Modi acknowledged the challenges faced by the youth a decade ago and highlighted the positive changes that have occurred since then, mentioning infrastructure boost, digital India initiatives, and support for startups.
PM Modi took a moment to reflect on his government’s achievements, citing the stability and strong majority that led to significant decisions. He pointed out milestones such as the removal of Article 370, the introduction of GST, reservation for women in Lok Sabha and assemblies, and the abolition of instant triple talaq among Muslims. The Prime Minister asserted that these decisions were possible due to a stable and strong majority government.
The upcoming 2024 General Election is crucial, with PM Modi seeking a third term. Political experts note that recent events, including the Ram Temple consecration ceremony, BJP’s victories in three assembly elections in 2023, and the positive performance of the Indian stock market, have strengthened Modi’s position. Additionally, cracks in the INDIA bloc alliance have favored the BJP, as West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee and Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann have decided to fight independently.
The BJP, which secured an absolute majority with 282 seats in 2014 and strengthened its influence with 303 seats in 2019, is gearing up for a competitive election. As the world’s largest democracy heads to the polls in the coming months, all eyes are on the political landscape, anticipating the outcomes and decisions that will shape India’s future.
