In a remarkable display of tradition and modernity, the 61st Cavalry, the world’s only serving horse-mounted cavalry regiment, took the lead in the Republic Day parade at the Kartavya Path. The regiment, founded in 1953, showcased a proud amalgamation of all ‘State Horsed Cavalry Units,’ with Major Yashdeep Ahlawat leading the contingent.

Following the majestic horse-mounted cavalry, the parade transitioned to a display of military prowess, featuring the formidable T-90 ‘Bhishma’ main battle tanks, the NAG missile system, and a tank destroyer designed by the DRDO. The procession continued with infantry combat vehicles and versatile all-terrain vehicles, symbolizing the Bharatiya Army’s strength and technological advancements.

Adding a touch of indigenously developed firepower, the parade included the Pinaka Multiple Rocket Launcher System, showcasing Bharat’s capability in designing, developing, and manufacturing advanced military equipment. The inclusion of such cutting-edge technology highlighted the nation’s commitment to self-reliance in defense.

The parade unfolded further with a sequence of 11 mechanized columns and 12 marching contingents, demonstrating the diversity and unity of the Bharat armed forces. The sky above the Kartavya Path came alive with a spectacular fly-past by Advanced Light Helicopters of the Army Aviation Corps, showcasing their agility and precision.

The grand finale of the Republic Day parade was set to be a breathtaking fly-past by 46 aircraft of the Indian Air Force, illustrating the nation’s aerial prowess. This annual celebration not only honors India’s rich history and diverse culture but also serves as a powerful display of its military strength, technological achievements, and unwavering commitment to national security. The participation of the 61st Cavalry added a unique and traditional touch to the event, symbolizing the seamless blend of heritage and progress in the Indian armed forces.
