In a joyous celebration of Bharat’s 75th Republic Day, the Bharat Embassy in the Maldives shared vibrant images of the festivities held at the Indian High Commission in Male. The event was graced by the presence of Indian High Commissioner to Maldives, Munu Mahawar, who engaged warmly with officials from the Maldivian government and members of both the Bharat and Maldivian communities.
The commemorative event kicked off with the ceremonial unfurling of the national flag by High Commissioner Munu Mahawar, accompanied by the rendition of the national anthem. Following this, the High Commissioner read out excerpts from the address of President Droupadi Murmu and addressed the gathering, emphasizing the strong ties between the two nations.
During his address, High Commissioner Mahawar underscored the significance of the “Neighbourhood First” policy, emphasizing the expansive and deepening bilateral relations between India and the Maldives. He highlighted the mutual support extended during the challenges posed by the pandemic and an uncertain geopolitical environment, showcasing the enhanced development and capacity-building partnership between the two countries. The High Commissioner expressed optimism about further strengthening the friendly relations with the Government of the Maldives.
The 75th Republic Day celebrations were not confined to the Maldives alone, as similar festivities reverberated worldwide. India’s Consul General to New York, Binaya Pradhan, and New York Senator Kevin Thomas participated in Republic Day celebrations organized by the Telugu Literary and Cultural Association (TLCA).
Taking to social media, the Indian embassy in New York shared the delightful news, stating, “Consul General @binaysrikant76 joined the Telugu Literary and Cultural Association (TLCA) for Republic Day celebrations; Senator @KevinThomasNY, from New York State Senate also joined the celebrations.”
