Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Goa on Tuesday, where he will inaugurate several significant projects aimed at advancing Bharat’s energy goals. One of the key events is the inauguration of the ONGC Sea Survival Centre, a state-of-the-art facility designed to elevate sea survival training in Bharat to global standards. This center is expected to train 10,000-15,000 personnel annually, enhancing their skills in simulated and controlled harsh weather conditions to improve their chances of safe escape from real-life disasters.
The Prime Minister will also kick off Bharat Energy Week 2024, a four-day event in Goa from February 6-9. This event, touted as Bharat’s largest energy exhibition and conference, will bring together stakeholders from the entire energy value chain, serving as a catalyst for the country’s energy transition goals. The agenda includes a roundtable discussion with global oil and gas CEOs and experts, with a focus on achieving self-sufficiency in energy requirements.
Encouraging startup participation and integration into the energy value chain is a crucial aspect of India Energy Week 2024. The event is expected to attract around 17 energy ministers from different countries, over 35,000 attendees, and more than 900 exhibitors, including dedicated country pavilions from Canada, Germany, Netherlands, Russia, the UK, and the US. A special Make in India Pavilion will showcase innovative solutions from Bharat MSMEs in the energy sector.
In the public program, the Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for projects worth over Rs 1,330 crores. Among these projects is the permanent campus of the National Institute of Technology Goa, equipped with various facilities to cater to the needs of students, faculty, and staff. Additionally, the new campus of the National Institute of Watersports, offering tailored courses for the development of watersports and water rescue activities, will be dedicated.
The Prime Minister will also inaugurate a 100 TPD Integrated Waste Management Facility in South Goa. This facility, designed for the scientific treatment of wet and dry waste, features a 500 KW solar power plant generating surplus electricity. Furthermore, he will lay the foundation stone for a Passenger Ropeway connecting Panaji and Reis Magos, along with associated tourism activities. Another foundation stone will be laid for a 100 MLD Water Treatment Plant in South Goa.
As part of the visit, the Prime Minister will distribute appointment orders to 1930 new government recruits under Rozgar Mela and hand over sanction letters to beneficiaries of various welfare schemes.
