Intensifying its investigation on the Aam Aadmi Party in connection to the money laundering case, the Enforcement Directorate in the wee hours of Tuesday raided dozens of locations linked to AAP Rajya Sabha MP N D Gupta, Delhi CMl’s secretary Bibhav Kumar, and former Delhi Jal Board member Shalabh Kumar. The probes were related to the illegal Delhi Jal Board contracts for various projects, valued at Rs. 30 crore, said the ED sources.
Though the reason has been made clear by ED, a fearful Delhi Cabinet Minister Atishi said that these raids are moves by the Central government to “silence or intimate” the Opposition parties. It needs to be noted here that the latest development comes a day after ED moved Delhi Court against Arvind Kejriwal for his non-appearance before the agency even after repeated summons in connection to the Delhi Liquor Policy Scam.
Reacting to the raids at AAP leaders’ residences, Delhi BJP Secretary Kapil Mishra compared the party’s scams to the Najafgarh drain. He added the truth regarding AAP’s loot and scams is being highlighted in every department. Demanding an arrest for the “corrupt people”, Mishra said that scandals in medicine and water are highly shameful.
The agency has mentioned that the Chief Engineer at the Delhi Jal Board, Jagdish Kumar Arora had awarded a contract to NKG Infrastructure Ltd. for a total cost of ₹38 crore, despite the company not meeting the technical eligibility criteria. During an ED investigation, it was revealed that NKG Infrastructure Ltd. had gained the contract using forged and false documents.
Further investigation revealed that NKG further subcontracted the work to Integral Screws Ltd, owned by Anil Kumar Aggarwal, who then paid ₹3 crore as commission to NKG owner.
