Iran has announced exciting news for Indian tourists. Starting from February 4, Bharatiya citizens can now enter Iran by air for tourism without needing a visa. This visa waiver program allows Bharatiyas to stay in Iran for a maximum of 15 days. However, there are some conditions to keep in mind, as stated by the Iranian embassy.
This initiative comes as part of Iran’s broader visa-free program, which includes 32 other countries like, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Japan, Singapore, and Malaysia. Under this program, individuals holding ordinary passports from Bharat can enter Iran without a visa once every six months, with a stipulated stay of 15 days.
It’s essential to note that the 15 days cannot be extended beyond its limit. Moreover, visa-free entry is exclusively for individuals entering Iran for tourism purposes. If Bharatiyas wish to stay longer than 15 days, make multiple entries within six months, or require other types of visas, they must obtain the necessary visas from Iranian missions in India.
However, it’s essential to understand that this visa abolition specifically applies to Bharatiya nationals entering Iran via the air border. Those entering by other means or for purposes other than tourism may still require a visa. This program aims to promote tourism and foster closer ties between Iran and Bharat.
Last month, Bharat’s External Affairs Minister, S Jaishankar, visited Iran, where he engaged in extensive discussions with his Iranian counterpart, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian. The talks covered various bilateral and regional issues, indicating the ongoing efforts to strengthen ties between the two countries.
Overall, this visa-waiver program is excellent news for Bharatiya tourists looking to explore the rich culture, history, and natural beauty of Iran. With easier access and simplified visa procedures, it’s expected to encourage more Indian travelers to visit Iran and experience its diverse offerings firsthand.
