Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL), a company that delivers gas to homes and businesses, has taken a big step towards helping the environment. They signed agreements with two technology companies during India Energy Week 2024. These agreements aim to build plants that turn waste into biogas in four states: Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh.
These partnerships mean that 19 new plants will be set up to make biogas. This biogas will then be added to IGL’s network, which supplies gas to homes and businesses.
The agreements were signed in the presence of important people from the government and IGL. Praveen Mal Khanooja, an official from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, praised IGL for its role in helping the country and believed that working together would lead to more sustainable energy projects.
The goal of these partnerships is to produce about 0.45 Million Metric Standard Cubic Meters per Day (MMSCMD) of biogas. This amount is equal to about 5% of what IGL needs every day.
This initiative will benefit many people and organizations. Cities will be able to manage their waste better, and farmers will have a way to get rid of agricultural waste in a sustainable manner. Gas will become cheaper for consumers, and the environment will be cleaner for everyone.
The collaboration between IGL and its partners shows a commitment to using renewable energy and dealing with environmental issues. By using waste to make biogas, they are supporting Bharat’s goals for clean energy and showing how public and private groups can work together for the greater good.
India Energy Week 2024 is an important event for discussing energy issues and finding solutions. It brings together experts and showcases new ideas to meet Bharat’s energy needs while protecting the environment and helping everyone in the country.
