Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in the UAE on Tuesday on a two-day visit.
He will hold talks with the Gulf nation’s top leaders. Notably, this is the seventh visit of the Prime Minister to the UAE since 2015. He was given a guard of honour upon his arrival.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and United Arab Emirate President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Tuesday jointly unveiled the UPI RuPay card service in Abu Dhabi. The event saw President Nahyan swiping a card personalized with his name, taking the initiative of the service in the UAE capital.
Prime Minister Modi hailed the moment as the dawn of a new era in financial technology. “We are stepping into a new FinTech era with the launch of my UPI RuPay card and your Jaywan card”, says PM Modi.

‘I look forward to meeting Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE, in Abu Dhabi and holding wide-ranging discussions on taking forward our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership,” PM Modi said
The UPI Rupay card service was introduced in Abu Dhabi by PM Modi and UAE President Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed AI Nahyan.
PM Modi will also address the members of the Bharatiya community from all the Emirates of the UAE at a special event in Abu Dhabi.
Modi also interacted with the first batch of students from the IIT Delhi-Abu Dhabi Campus. ‘This not only starts a new chapter in the the bilateral collaboration between Bharat and the UAE but also brings the youth from the two countries together’, said PM Modi.

A member of the Bharatiya diaspora in UAE said, “ I have come here from Dubai to meet PM Modi. We are very happy. We have brought Ramcharitmanas, if we get a chance we will gift it to PM Modi. The construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya will not have been possible without PM Modi, so we thank him”.
A member of the Dawoodi Bohra community at ‘Ahlan Modi’ event says, ‘Dawood Bohras across the world are known for their patriotism. And we are here for Mr Modi. We are very, very happy that he is in our place.
