#Indonesia Prabowo Subianto Claims “Victory for All” in Presidential Elections
In one of the most major developments in Indonesia’s history, Prabowo Subianto, Defence Minister and former special forces commander, claimed victory in the presidential elections on Wednesday after winning a massive lead. Though exit polls showed him as a front-runner for weeks ahead of the elections, the margin with which Prabowo defeated two of his opponents was much higher than expected. Subianto had about 58% of the votes, according to unofficial vote counts. The final vote counts still need to be officially confirmed, however, it is clear that Prabowo will be sworn in as President. Polling took place on 14th February, which was the largest single-day election where nearly 2,59,000 candidates contested for 26,000 posts.
