In a landmark move, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, accompanied by his cabinet members and National Health Authority Additional CEO Dr Basant Garg, unveiled the CM Jan Arogya Yojana or CMJAY during a grand ceremony in Tripura. This visionary scheme aims to extend free healthcare services to indoor patients up to the primary health centre level and empanelled private hospitals within and beyond the State.
Tripura boasts of becoming the first among small States and the 12th State overall in the nation to introduce CMJAY, a universal health insurance initiative modelled on the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana or AB-PMJAY. This groundbreaking program, with coverage of Rs 5 lakh per family annually, boasts four unique features, as highlighted by Dr Saha.
Under the ambit of CMJAY, approximately 4.15 lakh families, irrespective of income level, including government employees, are targeted to receive comprehensive healthcare coverage. The State Government has allocated Rs 104 crore for the implementation of this transformative scheme.
Operational on a cashless basis, CMJAY promises free medications for 15 days post-discharge following critical illnesses. With access extended to 26,000 empanelled hospitals nationwide, the scheme aims to seamlessly integrate with the existing AB-PMJAY framework, offering a wide network of medical facilities to beneficiaries.
Health Service Secretary Kiran Gitte underscored the inclusivity of CMJAY, covering all pre-existing conditions without age restrictions. Notably, beneficiaries of various government insurance schemes are eligible for enrolment, with exceptions outlined for specific categories.
Furthermore, the State Government employees will avail benefit, with provisions for their inclusion upon relinquishing existing medical allowances. CM Saha ceremoniously presented CMJAY cards to 30 deserving beneficiaries.
