For a second day, Israel launched air strikes in southern Lebanon after killing ten civilians and three Hezbollah fighters. The attack on southern Lebanon was in retaliation to a rocket attack that killed an Israeli soldier and wounded several others.
The IDF (Israel Defence Forces) revealed Thursday evening that on Wednesday night its forces killed in Lebanon who was the “central commander” of Hezbollah’s al-Hajj Radwan Force, Ali Muhammad Al-Dabs, along with his deputy Hassan Ibrahim Issa and another Hamas operative.
Since, the start of the Israel-Hamas war, it was the deadliest exchange of fire along the border. Israel and Hezbollah have traded fire regularly, increasing the risks of a broader conflict.
However, Hezbollah has not claimed Wednesday’s rocket attack. ‘It is prepared for the chances of expanding the war’, said a Senior member.
Hezbollah fired rockets at a northern Israeli town on Thursday and said it was preliminary response. ‘It killed a senior commander Hezbollah’s elite Radwan Force, Ali Dibs, who played a role in an attack last year that discouraged Israelis and other attacks directed at Israel over the past four months.
Dibs was killed along with his deputy Hassan Ibrahim Issa, as well as another Hezbollah operative’, said Israel’s military. Schools, universities and local administrative offices were closed on Thursday in Nabatiyeh.
The Lebanese group states that it’s acting in support of Palestinian ally Hamas with its attacks on Israel. Over fifteen people including five Hezbollah fighters were killed in Israeli strikes in South Lebanon on Wednesday and an Israeli soldier was killed by unclaimed rocket fire from Lebanon.
According to National Notary Association (NNA), ‘A woman, her child, aged two, and stepchild, 13, in the village of Sawwaneh were among those who died”.
Tarek Mroueh, 35, who works in a pharmaceutical company, expressed shock at the sudden violence that hit the neighbourhood in Nabatiyeh.
According to the AFP tally, ‘The cross-border hostilities have resulted in the deaths of over 259 people on the Lebanese side, mostly Hezbollah fighters with over 40 civilians’.
