Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang launched the Sikkim Integrated Service Provision and Innovation for Revising Economics or INSPIRES programme, backed by the World Bank, aimed at bolstering economic opportunities for women and youth in the State.
At the inauguration held at Chintan Bhavan, Tamang stressed upon the collaborative nature of Sikkim INSPIRES, highlighting its importance in fostering prosperity across the region. He articulated the vision for a prosperous Sikkim and urged collective efforts to achieve this goal.
Over the next five years, the INSPIRES initiative will engage nine government departments, marking a significant stride towards enhancing the economic growth of women and youth. The programme encompasses numerous components, including employment training initiatives, setting up of robust institutions, and promotion of sector partnerships to ensure inclusive growth and economic empowerment.
Adopting an evidence-based approach, the State Government aims to provide enhanced economic inclusion opportunities for women and youth through INSPIRES. The programme will facilitate the creation of diverse training and employment avenues aligned with the aspirations of the youth.
During the event, the winner of the TFR slogan writing competition, Rebika Chettri, was announced and awarded a cash prize. The winning slogan, ‘Jansankhya Mai Vriddhi, Sikkim Ko Samriddhi,’ underscores the importance of improving the Total Fertility Rate for the prosperity of Sikkim.
Additionally, the Chief Minister unveiled the ‘Swasth Maan’ Sikkim Mobile App, designed to promote well-being and awareness for strengthening mental health. Developed by the Science and Technology Department jointly with the Health Department, the app aims to enhance access to mental health resources across the State.
Event Chief Guest CM Tamang was accompanied by key dignitaries, including Education Department Kunga Nima Lepcha, Rural Development Department Sonam Lama, and the World Bank representatives. Planning and Development Department Secretary Rohini Pradhan provided insights into Sikkim INSPIRES, highlighting its significance as the State’s first direct partnership with the World Bank.
