Known as the "Father of Indian Cinema," Dadasaheb Phalke passed away in Nashik on February 16, 1944. Dadasaheb's full name was Dhundiraj Govind Phalke. Dadasaheb Phalke laid the foundation for the Indian film industry. In 1913, he released "Raja Harishchandra," the first Indian feature film. This film was also the first silent film in Bharat which DadaSaheb directed himself. It was showcased on April 21, 1913, at the Olympia Theater in the presence of notable personalities.
