Border Security Force on Saturday carried out an Anti-tunnel drive on the International Border in Samba district of Jammu. The operation was launched at around 9.30 in the morning ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Jammu and Kashmir on February 20, where he will inagurate projects worth Rs3100 crores.
Media reports quoted BSF officials stating that Anti-tunnel drive was initiated in the various sectors of Samba district amid intel that terrorists may attempt to cross borders and sneak into Bharatiya territory by using these tunnels.
The BSF have used electronic gadgets, manual tools to rule out any possibility of cross border tunnel. They will follow the same method in all regions encapsulated under international border ahead of an alert owing to the VVIP visit scheduled to take place next week.
The alert has been issued by Central Intelligence agencies of possibility of Pakistan’s attempt to inflict chaos through its sponsored terror groups ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Jammu and Kashmir.
Notably, this will be the second time Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Jammu post abrogation of Article 370 and 35A.
Notably, when PM Modi visited Jammu and Kashmir in 2022, reports surfaced that Jaish-e-Mohammed kept track on the entire development with two Afghan terrorists sneaking into the Bharatiya territory into Jammu through Samba International Border using tunnels. The terrorists were highly trained and were neutralised just hours before Modi’s public rally in Samba. Their plan was to attempt the Fidayeen attack to inflict maximum casualties in Jammu region.
At present, the BSF has spanned out almost 192 km of IB and Line of Control alongside the Army and is keeping a tight vigil to obliterate any attempt of infiltration of terrorists, smuggling of weapons and narcotics and drone activity.
