In a significant move towards bolstering healthcare infrastructure, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to lay the foundation stone for the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Rajkot, Gujarat, next week. This new AIIMS facility is part of the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojna (PMSSY) initiative by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, aimed at addressing regional healthcare disparities and enhancing medical education across the country.
The AIIMS Rajkot project, with an estimated cost of Rs. 1195 crores, will feature a 750-bed hospital equipped with various specialty and super-specialty departments. Additionally, Rs. 185 crores have been allocated for state-of-the-art medical equipment, ensuring the delivery of quality healthcare services.
Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya revealed earlier this week that a total of 7 new AIIMS facilities would become operational nationwide. He highlighted the unprecedented pace of development, emphasizing that before 2014, the nation had only 7 AIIMS established over seven decades. However, with this recent initiative, 7 new AIIMS are set to launch in just 7 days, marking a significant stride in healthcare expansion.
Furthermore, Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the foundation stone laying ceremony of AIIMS Rewari last Friday. Expressing his delight, PM Modi emphasized the government’s commitment to enhancing public health infrastructure and providing citizen-centric healthcare services. He underscored AIIMS Rewari’s role in meeting the healthcare needs of Haryana while generating employment opportunities and facilitating medical education for youth.
PM Modi highlighted the substantial progress made in healthcare infrastructure development over the last decade. He noted the approval of 15 new AIIMS and the establishment of over 300 new medical colleges, including at least one medical college in each district of Haryana. This concerted effort reflects the government’s dedication to ensuring accessible and quality healthcare services for all citizens.
In conclusion, the foundation stone of AIIMS Rajkot signifies a significant milestone in the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the healthcare sector. With its state-of-the-art facilities and comprehensive medical services, AIIMS Rajkot is poised to play a pivotal role in advancing healthcare accessibility and quality in the region, ultimately contributing to the well-being of the populace.
