A tragic incident unfolded at a Pizza Hut restaurant in Wisconsin, where a worker stands accused of killing his manager over a $7,000 inheritance check. The suspect, identified as Kavonn Ingram, allegedly murdered 55-year-old Alex Stengel inside the restaurant’s kitchen before disposing of the body in a nearby dumpster. The incident occurred on February 5, according to authorities in South Milwaukee who responded to a call reporting a body found in the restaurant’s garbage area.
Upon arriving at the scene, police followed a trail of blood to the kitchen, where Stengel had been fatally attacked. Reports indicate that Stengel had recently cashed a $7,000 check and had shown the money to coworkers, including the accused, Ingram, in the days leading up to the murder.
Details from a criminal complaint obtained by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel shed light on the gruesome nature of the crime. It’s alleged that Ingram shot Stengel before slitting his throat and inflicting additional stab wounds around the victim’s neck. Surveillance footage reportedly captured Ingram dragging a garbage can from the eatery to the dumpsters around 10:30 am on the day of the murder.
In an attempt to cover up his actions, the suspect reportedly clocked out for Stengel and sent text messages from the victim’s phone to a regional manager. These messages included inquiries about the door code and the claim of leaving keys inside the store. However, suspicions arose when the manager noted that the audio in a subsequent phone call from Stengel’s phone was muffled, and no clear communication occurred.
Further evidence was discovered by police during their investigation, including blood stains in the bathroom sink and a white towel with blood stains. Additionally, authorities recovered a red and black backpack containing a Taurus G2C 9mm handgun, three unfired FMJ 9mm cartridges, and a check from Pizza Hut in Ingram’s name.
As a result of the evidence gathered, Ingram now faces severe charges, including first-degree homicide, hiding a corpse as a party to a crime, armed robbery, and possession of a firearm. If convicted, he could potentially face a life sentence for his alleged involvement in this tragic incident.
The community and Pizza Hut family are left reeling from this shocking turn of events, as they grapple with the loss of Alex Stengel and the implications of such a heinous crime committed within their midst. Authorities continue to investigate the case, seeking justice for the victim and closure for those affected by this senseless act of violence.
